There are several ongoing book clubs for kids of all ages at The Magic Tree. To sign up for either club, call 708-848-0770 or e-mail Bronwyn, who will call you back to confirm meeting times, dates and book titles for each session.

The cost is $5 for four sessions. Book club members get a 10% discount on all book club selections purchased at The Magic Tree. Here are several of the clubs that will continue this this fall:

The Science Fiction Book Club is back for readers ages 10/11 and up. Both clubs meet on Saturday afternoons for an hour at the bookstore.

Dogfessions
Sunday  June 22  1 p.m.

Doglovers, this is for you!  The Magic Tree is hosting a True Dogfessions Session on Sunday June 22 at 1 p.m. with Nikki Moustaki.  Dogfessions (H.C. $19.99), a book compiled by Nikki Moustaki, is a blend of Marley and Me and Postsecret that takes an intimate look into the hearts and minds of dogs and their owners—told through postcards anonymously submitted to www.dogfessions.com.

A fetching ode to “man’s best friend”, Dogfessions features approximately 200+ handmade postcards bearing confessions and revelations by canines and their human companions from all over the country. Like little pieces of folk art, each 4 x 6 collage sent anonymously is often as telling as the message itself.

A couple of our favorite Dogfessions include:
• “I think I kiss the dogs more than I kiss my husband,” announces one affectionate owner.
•  Another writes: “There is NOTHING anyone can say to convince me that my dog isn’t going to live forever.”
Together, the words and the full-color art in Dogfessions capture the amazing bond we share with our dogs.  Thought-provoking, funny and sentimental, readers of all ages will love reading Dogfessions.  A donation has been made by HarperCollins to the Petfinder.com Foundation, which helps find homes for animals in need] , and to Sabbath Memorial Dog Rescue Center.

Folks coming to Dogfessions are invited to bring along postcards with pictures and their own dogfessions.  www.dogfessions.com is a good place to find out more.

To reserve copies of the book call (708)848-0770.
